Rocky Votolato

I was trying to think up an opening line for this post while searching for pictures of Votolato, when I came across this quote from a Spin Magazine article on him: "Votolato possesses the kind of voice that never-been-kissed teenage girls imagine their crushes might have in a perfect universe." Need I say much more? The man has a way of making you feel like he's singing directly to you and it makes his music all the more powerful. Since his 2006 album Makers (check it out, the entire thing is an amazing piece of work), he's taken a more folk-oriented path, with sparse arrangements which really accent his voice and guitar work. This is my first acoustic oriented post on the site, and hopefully I'll be getting some more work by artists like Votolato up here soon; for now, enjoy the sweet sounds of folk streaming from your speakers.
