Drake - November 18th

Throwback off of Drake's stepping stone to success, So FarGone. God, he's so damn smooth. This song drips steez.

"Don't know why it happens every time we alone / But here we are again and I swear I'm in my zone / So I'ma sip this drink till that motherfucker gone / Than you go get undressed and we gon' get it on"

DJ Cones - Latitude (Feat. Kanye West, Drake & Lupe Fiasco)

Can't tell you guys how much I like this record. I've been bumping it for a year or so now, and it's honestly one of the best mashups/remixes I've ever heard. A lush piano loop, great verses, and a bangin' chorus (albeit all of the lyrics are recycled, but I hadn't heard a couple of the verses before I got this) make this one a must-have addition for your iTunes. GET IT. NOW.

This is off DJ Cones first mixtape, Beatconector Presents Stethoscope Remix-Mixtape Vol.1 (back when he was called Beatconector. There's some great stuff on that mixtape, so hit the link and grab it.

Check out DJ Cones on Myspace, where you can find links to his YouTube page, and his newest mixtape, DJ Cones Stethoscope Vol.2 Remixtape.

The Last Hope (Feat. Kardinall Offishall & Andreena Mill) - Drake

Another cut by my boy Drake, this one is laid back. Waaaay back. A staple in chill playlists in my library, Drake has some nice verses, and Kardinal Offishalls is (gasp) actually not too shabby. Love the vocal sample and Andreena Mill on the chorus.

NEW Drake & Eminem Singles

*DISCLAIMER* Normally, I post music that I think is really dope and want to share with all of you. These two songs are not that kind of song. I just figured everyone would want to cop Em and Drake's new single's so I threw 'em up; I'm not particularly a fan of either.

So earlier this week Em announced that the first single, "Not Afraid", off his Recovery album would be out this Friday. Yesterday, Drake released the album art for his second official single "Find Your Love" and said the single would be released before the day was over. And guess what? For once, two hugely popular artists ACTUALLY released their singles when they said they would.

Not sure how I feel about either song yet, neither is necessarily bad, but they both seem kind of bland. Drake's single was produced by Kanye, and Em picked up Boi-1da, one of the hottest producers out there right now. Tell me what you think in a comment, I'm interested to see how these two singles are received. Props to illroots for the singles.

EDIT: Got another DMCA takedown notice for this post. I don't want to get my blog taken down so I had to remove the links. If you want any of the songs mentioned, click on the illroots link above, he's still got them up, or hit me up for the download.

Free Gucci

Not such a big fan of Gucci Mane, but this mixtape is actually sort of cool. It includes some crazy remixes of some of Gucci's songs. From minimalist electronic bleeps and blips, to wild, pulsing electro beats, the mixtape offers very interesting takes on a pretty typical mainstream southern rap artist. Gucci's voice actually complements a fair amount of the production on most of these tracks, and while not every song is a banger, these two most certainly are. If you want the whole thing, you can nab it HERE.

Oh, and as a bonus, here's Gucci on a dope Drake track off his Thank Me Later Mixtape.
