Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix) - Blue Foundation

So this post isn't just for Eyes on Fire Remix, the title should actually be something like "Earth-Shattering Speaker-Blowing Brain-Melting Dubstep", but I figured I'd keep it short. These are some of the dopest dubstep tunes I've heard of late, and they are FILTHY. Absolutely, disgustingly filthy. The dirtiest of the dirty, the grimiest of the grimy. These songs will make you want to break shit, dance until you can't dance anymore, and then break some more shit as you continue to dance, even though you're too tired to be dancing longer.

Eyes on Fire (Zeds Dead Remix): My roommate showed me this, and this is most certainly a mind-melter. Apparently the original is from the Twilight soundtrack (it almost makes me gag writing that word on my blog), but that doesn't mean you should discount it immediately. I've been slapping this hard, the bass actually shakes my room when I turn my sub on, but it's the female vocals that really make this song as amazing as it is.

Hold On (Sub Focus Remix): Courtesy of The West Coast Leak. This song, off dubstep producer Rusko's first album is nuts. The 808 snares give this song somewhat of a hip-hop feel but then all of a sudden, here comes the break and it's all dubstep all day. This is a sick first single, and I can't wait for the full album to drop May 4th.

Cozza Frenzy: This song's a little older, but not by too much. The title track from Bassnectar's newest album, this was possibly the most insane song I've ever seen performed live. The song alone could probably put you into convulsions, not to mention the lights show that went with it. I'll be putting up the Mega-Bass Remix sometime soon. You better have some quality speakers for that one.

Pro Nails (Rusko Remix): The first dubstep song I ever heard. A lot of people know Kid Sister through her affiliation with Yeezy and her poppy electro-hop album Ultraviolet, but this remix blows away anything on that album. The wobble in this song is out of control, and Kid Sister's sped up vocals compliment the slashing bass perfectly.

NEW Drake & Eminem Singles

*DISCLAIMER* Normally, I post music that I think is really dope and want to share with all of you. These two songs are not that kind of song. I just figured everyone would want to cop Em and Drake's new single's so I threw 'em up; I'm not particularly a fan of either.

So earlier this week Em announced that the first single, "Not Afraid", off his Recovery album would be out this Friday. Yesterday, Drake released the album art for his second official single "Find Your Love" and said the single would be released before the day was over. And guess what? For once, two hugely popular artists ACTUALLY released their singles when they said they would.

Not sure how I feel about either song yet, neither is necessarily bad, but they both seem kind of bland. Drake's single was produced by Kanye, and Em picked up Boi-1da, one of the hottest producers out there right now. Tell me what you think in a comment, I'm interested to see how these two singles are received. Props to illroots for the singles.

Wiz Khalifa

In light of Wiz's upcoming tour date in Eugene, I thought I'd see if I could convert some new found fans and help fill up WOW Hall. The way most people know Wiz Khalifa is through his massive summer 2008 hit, Say Yeah. Infectiously poppy, this song was what gave Wiz his fanbase. Now he's got a couple independently produced albums and quite a few mixtapes, and he's established himself as one of the top up-and-coming rappers of the year. The song "In The Cut", featured below is off his new mixtape, Kush & Orange Juice, one of two or three mixtapes by him that are supposed to come out this year. "The Thrill" has Wiz dropping in over Empire of the Sun's "Walking on a Dream", and is definitely one of his best efforts to date. Wiz is still figuring out how to appeal commercially, but once he does, dude's gonna be huge. Cop now.

Daft Punk

I'll be the first one to admit, until Stronger, I hadn't heard of Daft Punk. Once I found out about them though, there was no stopping me. I was a fiend. There music is infectious; it finds its way deep into your brain and stays there for days just bouncing around, making you hum to yourself under your breath. They're most well known to the general public for the samples used by Kanye and Busta in Stronger and Touch It respectively. Once those songs were big hits, more of their music become popular, and some of their better known ones are One More Time and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. The songs I've posted aren't quite as well known, but they're definitely my favorites from the Daft Punk catalogue. The first two are off their 2005 album Human After All, and the third is an amazing mashup of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger & Outkast's Roses. The finals song is the single from their live album Alive 2007, and is one of my favorite electronic songs of all times. They seamlessly blend a bunch of their hits together to create an epic piece of work. Once you watch this live video of them performing the song, you'll understand why the #1 group I want to see live is Daft Punk. Aesop Rock

      

One of the most innovative independent producer/rappers of the past decade or so, Aesop Rock always has fresh new beats and original songs up his sleeves. He's been making beats and rapping for awhile now, and often collaborates with producer Blockhead on his tracks. He's put out 5 full albums, as well ass a few EPs, compilations, and a long list of production credits for other rappers. These songs are from a few different albums, and the Limelighters Remix is pretty slick.

Jaylib

Madlib and Dilla the illest. A truer statement has never been uttered. When Madlib and J Dilla, two of my favorite hip-hop producers, combined to create Jaylib, my prayers had been answered. The raw hip-hop sound of their album Champion Sound gets better and better every time I listen to it; each time I hear one of their songs I find new subtle nuances, a bass-line in the background, some drums I'd never heard, etc. One of the things I think is really cool is the way in which the album was created. Dilla and Lib spent the months making the album by mailing their parts back and forth to each other, with one creating a beat and the other rapping over it. In this way, half the tracks are produced by Dilla, with raps by Madlib, and the other half are reversed, with Madlib behind the tables and Dilla on the mic. Not surprisingly, the four songs I'm about to post here, my favorites off the album, are all Dilla produced. These four songs are some of my favorite of all time, with heavy bass, some crazy samples, and Madlib's goofy lyrics. If you were only to pick up one though, get The Red. It is without a doubt one of my favorite songs of all time, and if you really want to get a party moving, that's the song to play.

Tokyo Police Club

Of all the indie bands to come out of the woodwork in the past few years, Tokyo Police Club is without a doubt one of, if not, my favorite. My junior year in high school, I had started to listen almost exclusively to hip-hop, but this was the band that really brought me back to other types of music. After discovering "Your English Is Good" on a CD my friend made me for my birthday, I began to listen to Tokyo Police Club incessantly. Their album, Elephant Shell, was without a doubt one of the top 3 of 2008, and I'm hoping that their newest effort, Champ, due out June 8, will be just as good.

Flufftronix

Normally, I give you a little bit of an intro put together from the various places I hear about music (wikipedia, friends, other blogs etc.), but after reading Flufftronix's About Me page on his website, I didn't think I could really say it any better. I mean really. To have your music described as "face-crushing soul melters" pretty much says it all. This guy goes HARD. Don't sleep.

Cee-Lo Green

Cee-Lo Green the Soul Machine. Cee-lo has been around for a minute now, but I feel like, at least in the NW, he doesn't get much love. In the '90s he was a part of Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob, and since has begun a successful solo career, collaborating with a host of other artists, including the Dungeon Family, Ludacris and Outkast. His most well known work is probably his collaboration with DJ Danger Mouse as half of Gnarls Barkley. Here, however,  I want to highlight his solo work, because besides being a rapper, he's a great soul and funk singer as well. These four tracks are singles off of his two solo albums, and they can all be found on Closet Freak: The Best of Cee-Lo Green the Soul Machine, his best-of album.

Obie Trice

Real name, no gimmicks. This line from the beginning of the Eminem song Without Me is probably the only way most people have heard of Obie Trice. Obie is definitely a rapper in his own right though, he's three albums deep already, with his fourth, Bottoms Up, coming out sometime this year. These are two songs of his first album, Cheers. The Set Up is catchy andhas a dope beat, and Don't Come Down is a great song, the story of, and apology for, Obie's childhood struggles with his mother.
